A plus-sized girl's guide to flattering fashion looks

great in dark mid-rise boot cut jeans. V-neck shirts are also quite flattering because they draw attention to your face. Wearing heels will lengthen your look. If the idea of wearing heels scare you, opt for a great wedge to wear with your jeans. At least choose shoes the same color of your pants to lengthen your look. Whatever you do, make sure your shoes are sturdy enough to handle your weight.

#7. Finally, highlight your best assets. Don't be afraid to show off a little cleavage or those great collar bones. Take time to learn how to apply a self tanning lotion. Do your hair and your makeup. Mix it up by choosing one area to highlight with color, whether it be your shoes, shirt, belt, or accessories. Pay attention to your posture and walk gracefully. Do you have great teeth? Smile as much as possible. The point is to know that you are wonderful and to show it off.

As women, we tell ourselves we don't deserve to look good until we lose weight, grow out our over-plucked eyebrows and get our teeth whitened. If we keep procrastinating, we will be forever doomed to the dreaded sweat pants and sneakers routine. Fashion guru Tim Gunn describes how larger women are actually blessed because "it forces one to let go of the idea of fashion and truly embrace her personal style." Why bother worrying about what looks great on every one else and what things you can't wear. The time to look good is now, so hold your head up and take your style into your own hands. Fashion is not a size. It's a state of mind.
