Poetry: Insomnia

by Kate Miller

Created on: April 23, 2008

guess you don't need to count sheep
with someone else by your side
which memories will you keep,
the ones where you didn't lie?

will you paint me as a villain
after you said you loved me
it's killin' me
so I guess I'll just count sheep

one, two, three...
are you thinking 'bout me?
'cause these pillows are harder than I remember
No one wants to be alone in the middle of December

I'm counting sheep like we used to do
I thought I could count on you
the stars are dark and it's hard to see
this isn't where I want to be

I'm trying not to care about what once was
like someone alone always does
But I promise I won't interfere
I'll just count my sheep up here
and maybe have another beer

one, two three...
are you thinking 'bout me?
Isn't it funny how you get cut so deep
doing something stupid like counting sheep

but I guess you don't need to count sheep
with someone else by your side
which memories did you keep
did you forget how to count sheep?
