I hunger for the words
That can heal the pain
When life is disappointing
Perhaps they will challenge
Thoughts that can harm society
I hunger for the truth
People say they find in scripture
It is there revealed in the Word
I hunger for meaning amidst
Mental starvation
Spirits drying up
With no one to understand
I reach out to ease their hunger
On a printed page
I claim their right to feel
I share in their frustration
