A drop of it is all it takes
and the fights he starts
shatters and break
the pieces of her heart
a drop of it is all he needs
and she hurts, she bleeds
the broken glass has pierced her skin
her love's the double-edged sword again
she is the victim that will never cry out
even though his love's in doubt
the poison you drink
comes right from your veins
telling you not to think
because it will hold the reins
so harmless at first
when worst comes to worst
it's not yourself you'll hurt
a drop of it is all it takes
it's the bottle raising the stakes
a month melds into so many years
and the neighbors just shut their ears
a drop of it is all he needs
to ignore the way she pleads
they've both lost the creed
and she hurts, she bleeds
the victim that will never cry out
even though his love's in doubt
she blames herself and they're both wrong
but it's gonna change with this song
a drop of it that doesn't flow
acid rain that just won't go
and it just goes to show
