Your life was taken early
For reasons not known
But God felt it was better
For you to be by his side
Than by ours here below
Your life was taken early
A cheated emotion
Of a grievance so grandiose
A mourning not recognized
By society, family, or even oneself
You were needed elsewhere
But you were a son
A child
A nephew, a grandson
Your existence is complete
You are a person, a member of this family
Though you passed before the rest
You are one of us
In thought and memory
You matter, Who you would've been
You have a name
You have a memory emblazoned and cemented
A body and face, wrapped in a tiny blue blanket
You are a life that was taken away
And no one can take your existence away
You have a mother who held you
Just underneath her heart
Her soul bonded with yours
She ate for you, she gave of her body for you
And she will always remember you
Daily, sometimes seemingly every moment
And sometimes she will ache so much
Because she feels alone
While everyone else has forgotten
And one day we will know you
Your mother will feel you beside her
And she will know you instantly
Because you are her child, her fourth
Your existence will not be taken away
And she will remember as others can't imagine
