I think that the time has come for all women to take a stand for themselves. Freedom of religion has been around for a long time and for the most part, it has been a society of free thinkers when it comes to religious issues. Now that we may have our first woman president, it is time for all women to get together and stand up for what is right in our society. Our society is based on a patriarchal standard, has been since the United States first declared its independence from England.

In this era of more women working and holding down jobs and careers that were once deemed just "men's work" , it's time that we, as a society, take notice and support the women in our society. Many women try to be "Supermom" and not only work, but raise kids and keep up with the daily demands of family life. If women are expected to play all of these roles, let us keep our rights.

Women should have the right to get an abortion, earn more money than men, run for political office and be able to do just about anything that a man can do.

Whereas, most of your religious organizations are trying to take away a woman's right to an abortion. What about all of the unwanted children in our society that women have? A woman has a right to decide what to do with her body and her health. Not only is it against our right to have an abortion, according to most religious groups, men should decide whether or not it is ok for a woman to have one. That is not fair. Men do not have to spend an agonizing six to twelve hrs in labor, or take care of the baby.
I am all for women's rights and the right to choose. I would rather see women getting an abortion if they cannot support the child, are on drugs or alcohol or on welfare. Many women just have children because its more free money from the government. That is also not right.
All women need to stick together to further ensure that our rights are not being violated and that we have the same rights as men do. We need to get more actively involved in causes that concern us and voice our opinions.
We do not need men telling us how to run our lives.
