Poetry: Good-bye, my love

by Kate Miller

Created on: April 23, 2008

Goodbye

It's doesn't matter what you say
it's what's left untold
so if it's really better this way,
why do I feel so cold?

what's really gone wrong?
is it because we weren't strong?
you won't look me in the eye
and you won't look at my face
you left our love to die
and now I'll make sure it's erased

but I... I never wanted it to end
and I... I refuse to pretend
it's not alright, it won't be okay
maybe soon, but not today

you've moved on to someone new
so there's nothing else to do
but grow so far apart
that you'll loose your chokehold on my heart

I don't think I can let you go
but I need you to stay out of my head
maybe someday you'll know
that you're the reason my heart has been dead
since the day you turned and fled

so I suppose this is goodbye
waving my white flag, this is my heart's surrender
Why did you have to lie,
you beautiful pretender?
