I hear you when I walk alone amidst a shroud of pine
Draping branches cradle me as if to say, "You're fine."
I hear you when the birds awake and break into their song
Solos in a pre-dawn choir, crescendoing 'til strong
I hear you at the un-hemmed shoreline, in the coming of each tide
Tenaciously you surge ahead, a rhythm in your stride.
I hear you on a chocolate night, unwrapping a rising moon
Scheming shadows run with fear when you light my darkened room
I hear you in a pre-storm gust, which startles all at rest
Swirling chaos sweeps my path, uncovering what is best
I hear you when I'm listening, when I watch and when I see
I hear you when I hear myself, your soul talks just to me

Beep
I hear you microwave.
My oatmeal's hot.
Beep
I hear you washing machine.

It started as a child,
I would wander wondering
between the stones.
Reading names of those who
