I'm a 27 year old woman, 5ft8 tall with 3 children under the age of five. Since the age of 4 I have been quite overweight, at the age 18, wore a size 20.
This time last year I weighed nearly 14 stone, wore a size 16-18. I now weigh 10 stone 5 pounds and wear a size 10.
Over the years I tried every diet possible, only to lose a few pounds but gain more than I actually lost weeks later!
So in the end I decided totally change my eating habits, starting by not eating (Or just munching fruit and fat-free yoghurts) after 6pm. Although I had an extra large dinner to keep me going, it actually started to work!
After a month, I lost a stone and got used to not eating at night (previously, I used to eat dinner, followed by crisps, chocolate and a takeaway at between 11pm and 12.30am)so gave up even yoghurts, etc in the evenings.
I also started doing around 20 mins of excercise in front of the television (music channels!) 3 times a week that seemed to fast track the weight loss. Another good method of excercise that toned up my arms wonderfully was to run up a hill with a buggy loaded with shopping and two children! (Not possible for everyone, I know but this can be adapted to just carrying your shopping home!)
After a while I realised that the later in the day you eat, the harder it is to digest food, so it just sits there and turns into fat. In the end I also decided that anything extra 'naughty' I fancied I would eat as early in the day as possible.
The problem is a year on, I'm still eating cake and choclate for breakfast! I still make sure I eat fruit and vegetables though, usually with dinner.
I'm much more active now, and my metabolism finally seems to be working as I never have to watch what I eat anymore (If I want pizza, I have it without feeling guilty!) just when I eat.
