The electoral college is just another part of the giant scam that is the United States government. It is a totally senseless organization with a task that is meaningless other than to cause scandal.

The dictionary definition of 'Democracy' is a system of government in which the power is invested in the people. The population. America seems to have forgotten this amongst all the 'spreading of democracy' we are doing. Let's not forget that having a congress and a senate which makes our decisions for us already makes the US a republic. But then lets add on to that the electoral college. A Body of delegates of whom most people cannot even name one, that is entitled the power to ultimately decide the next president on the United States. This is beginning to sound less and less democratic with every word.

Why does the electoral college even exist? They supposedly count the popular vote, right? Well then why does the popular vote not determine who becomes president? These are questions that could come from any 4th grader on earth, yet the United States government, an organization with seemingly limitless funds, researchers, scientists, law enforcers, judges, etc... can't come up with a legitimate answer.

Maybe it's because the real answer is that the electoral college is just another part of their huge scam. How can lobbyists or crooked politicians or scandals get to 100 million or so voters? They can't. It's much easier to only have to reach ooh about 538 delegates. And the members of the electoral college have no obligation to vote one way or the other. There is even a term for members of the electoral college who don't vote for who their constituents voted for, "Faithless electors". These are just normal, every day people, just like all of us. Susceptible to blackmail, greed and scandal from the rich and elite of the world...Granted the power to pick the next president.

The electoral college is a mockery of what is supposed to be a free, liberty loving, independent nation. It takes the vote away from every American, and puts the millions of votes into the hands of a few crooked delegates. It is a sham and should be abolished as soon as possible.
