I read the highest rated article by RL Jones and it is very well written, logical and convincing. I however, have my own reasons for believing in God and they don't have anything to do with what ANY church tells us is the truth.
Faith alone...is just faith. You can have faith that eventually, it will rain. You believe it (have the faith) because someone told you about rain and if you're lucky, perhaps some day you'll see it. You've heard stories of rain that have been passed down from generation to generation, and though you've never seen it...you have faith that, yes, it does exist. There is no proof except what science can dig up and you either believe the proof...or you don't.
That's not good enough for me. I have faith, not because someone told me to or because of all the spiritual teachings or even because of the fear of NOT having it. I have had experiences in my life that others would consider supernatural. But if you think about it...God is supernatural by definition.
I have no religious training. I have no common concept of God. I pay no attention to the proof...or lack thereof, of God's existence. I am not even sure that "God " is the right name, BUT I do know that there is a supernatural existence of higher being(s) that has had a hand in our creation. Perhaps Earth was the best choice of planets? I don't think the planet was created especially for us. All the science and technology means nothing to me. Ahaa! You say! Another wacko! Think what you will.
Near death experiences can be explained by science. The mind does what it must (whether that means shutting down or mis-firing) and people recreate what they have learned, seen or heard. But what if you are only 4 years old and you have no concept of death or the here-after? You have not heard stories, been to church or even had television. What if you are only 4 years old and you are dead...and someone brings you back? Been there...done that. More than once.
I could only repeat what I saw...what I heard. I couldn't make any sense of it. I didn't even have the vocabulary to describe it. But I know how it felt. I have never since...felt more loving warmth, or the presence of so many others. I never saw a woman as beautiful and angel-like as the Lady in the Light that came to guide me. She explained to me what was happening and told me that I had to go back. She said I had a job to do and though I would suffer pain in my life, I would be able to help so many. I would be given choices and the consequences
