In a day and age where everything seems to cost an arm and a leg, planning a vacation can be a daunting task. Fortunately, if you're planning a vacation to the beautiful desert city of Phoenix, Arizona, you have many options that will keep you feeling as though you haven't sacrificed comfort or quality and will save you money as well!

The first thing to remember when planning any trip to Phoenix is that "Phoenix proper" is not necessarily the only option. The city of Phoenix is surrounded, twenty to thirty miles in each direction, with other little towns, including Scottsdale, Glendale, Goodyear, Mesa and Tempe. This means that when planning a vacation to Phoenix you have many options as to where to stay, and sometimes the better deals are had in the surrounding areas. When ten miles means saving thirty dollars a night on a more comfortably equipped hotel, it's definitely worth it!

Next, whenever you're planning a vacation, make sure to not only look at the price of the hotel, but also the amenities. If you're planning to fly in to the Phoenix area, make sure you choose a hotel that offers free shuttle service. If breakfast is an important meal to you, choose a hotel that offers a good continental breakfast. Additionally, don't forget to take advantage of all the "deals" you can get. When booking a hotel online, you're usually getting the best deal, but it's always a good idea to call the hotel directly and see if they have any other discounts (like AAA, Senior discount, etc.) that will lower your room rate.

Beautiful, upscale southwest styling abounds, and being an "all suite" hotel you'll always get a separate living area and bedroom. All rooms overlook a well landscaped courtyard with a pool and a spa. If you're looking for a good complimentary breakfast, you can't beat the buffet at Thunderbird, which offers everything from eggs and pastries to yogurt and coffee. Other amenities include free wireless internet access and a nice on-site restaurant. Reasonably priced from $70 per night.

THE RESIDENCE INN BY MARRIOT
