Hello my friends. We are the Humans. That is what we call ourselves. We are the top species on the planet Earth, which is the 3rd planet from the Sun,our star, which we orbit in 365 "days"which our construct, according to day and night, and the beginning and ending of seasons.Oh, yes,and due to certain incongruities, there are "leap-years".
To address all of us,I will say that we(5 billion)have inhabited every corner, each piece of ground available,planet-wide.That is amazing. And still, there exists wilderness. Some human has laid claim to every bit of land, and now some of us have begun to claim the seas as well.
Unfortunately, the world, the "Earth" as we have named it seems to be intent on shrugging us off of it's shoulders. We had our chance to send our "seed" to the moon and onward to Mars, but we hesitated too long.We said it would cost too much while we bought million dollar homes and RV's and vacationed in lavish resorts. Thus the NASA programs which would've saved us as a species have gone without funding and we have send robotic probes, instead of fully manned missions to the moon to establish a base from which to launch our Mars missions, thus enabling us to preserve our DNA into the realm of the future.
I am not a prophet of doom.I just know that we are a small planet orbiting an average sized sun within our Milky WayGalaxy.I believe what science tells me.This also goes hand in hand with my own religion. There is an infinite universe expanding into an infinite void. All we know,as humans is what we are able to see, hear, touch, smell, and taste.Five senses with which to discover and understand the world around us.We are depleteting our resources at an alarming rate.We can control our use of resources but we can do nothing about a giant asteroid,or a super-volcano.
Ever since I was a child of 12,I have wished that we could stop fighting against each other.I have dreamed of all of us living in harmony.I have fantasized about spending our wealth to find cures for diseases, and uniting our minds to solve the problems of hunger and homelessness. To heal the sick and house the homeless.
Yet,it has not fully become so.I praise the the people and the organizations which have arisen to address the situations in the world. And I must say this:Until we reach into every tribe, each village, every county, state, and country, with the light of knowledge, and lift them up to a new level,a new understanding, they will stay poor, sick, and needy. It is our duty to lift them out of their darkness. It thus becomes our job to raise them into the light. There are no more active duty angels left here in our world. We are on duty.We are responsible for our own.
