With its fantastic weather all year long and a laundry list of interesting activities to offer, Phoenix really is the perfect destination for a honeymoon. The city was built around the hospitality industry and the quality of the accomodations, dining, nightlife, and recreation is, in turn, top notch. Here, there is something for everyone. Whether you want a fun-filled honeymoon of exploring the city or a quiet, private getaway, Phoenix has the perfect offerings for you.

Great Resorts for Honeymooners

Hotel Valley Ho
6850 E. Main St.
Scottsdale, AZ 85251

The Hotel Valley Ho is a newly remodeled resort right in the heart of downtown Scottsdale. This is the perfect place to stay if you're looking for some nightlife. Nearby, choose from many fantastic restaurants and lively nightclubs. Scottsdale is also one of the few areas of the valley that you can get away without a car. The Valley Ho offers amenities such as 24-hour room service, two on-site award-winning restaurants, a rooftop terrace and gardens, and a full-service spa.

The Wigwam Golf Resort and Spa
300 Wigwam Blvd.
Litchfield Park, AZ 85340

Just outside the hustle and bustle of the city is The Wigwam. If you're looking for peace and privacy, this is the resort for you. You'll stay in a lovely casita located on one of their many acres of garden landscaping. The Wigwam boasts 54 holes of golf, 24-hour room service, a full-service spa, on-site dining, and a great pool. When I was a guest there, I spent hours at the poolside cabana ordering drinks and listening to their live reggae band. I felt as if I had been transported to the carribean!

Activities

If you're a golfer, you'll love Phoenix. Check out one of the many area courses:

The Raven-(623) 215-3443
Become a "member for a day" and enoy unlimited golf and use of the practice facilities.

The Legacy-(888) 828-3673
Play like the pros! This is where the LPGA played their 2000 Standard Register Ping Tournament.

Club West Golf Club-(480) 460-4400
Tucked away in the desert foothills, you'll enjoy the incredible views as you putt for par on one of Arizona's top 20 courses.

If golf isn't for you check out these other great recreations:

The Salt River
Float down the Salt River for a few hours and lose yourself in the beauty of the desert while you get a tan. This is a great place to cool off and get some sun at the same time. The Salt River Recreation Center has tube and cooler rentals available, as well as busses to and from the drop off and pick up sites. Call (480) 984-3305 for more information.

Koli Equestrian Center
Ride cowboy-style at Koli. Here, they have hundreds of acres of desert to ride instead of just a few narrow trails. Their wranglers are not only knowledgable in the way of horses, but they can tell you quite a bit about the area's history. Make reservations at (602) 796-3495.

Casino Arizona
Loop 101 and McKellips Rd.
Feeling lucky? Casino Arizona is located right in Scottsdale. The huge facility has great food, drinks, and live entertainment. Try your luck at one of their thousands of slots or hit the tables for some blackjack.

Su Vino Winery
This is the city's first winery. Su Vino is the place to visit if you want to relax and enjoy some easy sophistication. Call (480) 994-8466 for information.

The Tempe Improv
Need a good laugh? The Improv is the city's premeire comedy club. They offer live acts almost nightly. Some big-name comedians not only got their start here, but also stop through for a few nights on occasion. The venue is incredibly intimate; all seating is lounge-style at cocktail tables. Come down early and have a great three-course meal before the laughter starts. Call (480) 921-9877 for showtimes and reservations.
