Our lips don't meet
Our fingertips don't touch
For if they did
It might all be too much
Putting our two halves together
Still won't make us whole
Do they even know what they stole
Can you smell the rain?
As our fingertips interlace
My heart quickens pace
Electricity fills the air
I know it's wrong
But I don't care
Try not to speak
You know your words make me weak
A stolen weekend
A pretend peace
In your turbulent smile
I find release
Horseback in the snow
Beneath the blanket of stars
For just that moment
Reality seemed so far
An awkward connection
An altered perception
Alone but together
We try hard to fight it
Careful steps on a broken path
Friendship is just an excuse
