Aging in America today is, in so many ways, better than ever has been. With so many advances in medicine and skin care, growing old gracefully is not just an expression any more. We can have procedures done to improve eyesight, hearing and even our physical imperfections. Healthy diets and all the skin creams and lotions designed to make us look and feel younger. It is now possible to be fifty and look thirty! As a whole, people are looking and feeling better at all ages. It is a truly enjoyable thing to grow old, if we take care of ourselves.
It's true, as we get older, we get wrinkles and joint pain and we notice our vision blurring. We don't have the energy we used to without the help of vitamins, and our immune systems don't work like they should any more. These are not excuses to pull out the rocking chair and give up on having fun! Even if we don't have a lot of money, it's still possible to take care of the problems as they develope. There are programs for folks who don't have the money to afford medical prodedures and there are lots of low cost products on the market that can help us maintain our health and appearance.
The really nice part about growing older is the wisdom we bring with it. We have the years of experience and knowledge to not make mistakes as we did in our youth. Aging may cause us to take a look back on the things we have done, and the things we plan on doing. For most of us, it makes us think about our mortality and what that means to us. This should not be a bad thing, it should be a time to celebrate the things we have already accomplished, and the good things yet to come. Aging in America today is a really good thing. It's all a matter of perspective, how we look at things determines how we handle the situations life throws at us. There are concerns that we have as we age such as retirement.
The truth is, aging is a natural part of life and it's going to happen whether we like it or not, so why not make the most of our golden years? They say that our college years are the best years of our lives, it seems like retirement is challenging that theory!
