I am writing on behalf of my lady friend, who I will refer to as "Dolly". I promised her to write a story about her experience because she is terribly shy, and this is a controversial issue. She lives in Northern California near the Oregon border and works for the Forestry Service. She has daily contact with the roads and natural peculiarities of the Redwood forest.
One evening several years ago an unforgettable sight was beholden by my friend. As she drove her SUV around a bend in the road, there stood an apelike creature, still and silent, and as her car rounded the curve of the road, this creature looked right at her, then disappeared into the deep Redwood forest. As time has gone by, she has felt comfortable about mentioning this experience to her relatives, who also live in remote areas of the County. Her male cousin, said he has seen several sightings of a Bigfoot like creature, near the River, including a smaller version, perhaps a female. He has heard them bellow in the night.
She entered her information onto a website, and lo and behold, after getting some phone tag play,...last week she was interviewed by a fellow recording her testimony for the History Channel, or so he told her. She thinks it will all be caught by the cutting room floor. I explained I don't think it gets cut anymore, at least physically. Interestingly, he asked her if she knew where he could get some salmon? Surprise, she knows how to smoke salmon and has a cabin-industry selling it. She asked him if he liked to eat it? He remarked that he would need it for bait.
I too, have had the opportunity the enjoy Dolly's smoked salmon, and trust me it could bait the Bigfoot in any man. So, being the self-proclaimed marketeer, I devised a slogan where she could claim that her salmon was "endorsed by Bigfoot". We had a good laugh, but unless I learn otherwise, we will probably be using it for our packaging. Feedback encouraged. Is a myth copyrightable? This is our common law copyright notice just in case. The date and time are posted. Do we change the name to protect the innocent? Is it time to print cups and T-shirts? Should we give tours? We don't want to take advantage of the situation, but if Bigfoot falls for Dolly's smoked salmon, what's a girl to do?
