There is nothing like watching the art of dancing and it is a universal art. Every culture has a dance and with that dance is a message. Dance is something that I have loved all my life.
I remember growing up and going to see, Arthur Hall's Dance Ensemble, it was a very world renowned African dance troupe. It inspired me to want to learn the dance of my ancestors. I didn't stop there, I learned every dance that I could learn from tap, jazz, modern and even the dance of strippers. I loved it all!
My biggest thrill in viewing dance as the universal art that it is, was seeing Judith Jamison of the Allen Alley Dance Troupe perform. With her long arms and legs she moved and brought houses down all over the world. I have seen many dancers and many dances but no one left the lasting impression for me than Ms. Jamison.
There can be no doubt that dance is a universal art, take a slow dance it is the prelude to seduction, there is an art in moving in time with a partner that responds to the vibrations of your movements in such a way that it beckons you to intimate conclusions.
Dance has gone in so many directions but there is nothing quite as intimate as two people moving their bodies in sync. The youth of today are indeed dancing, it is a universal form of expression that could only be conceived as an art.
Marvin Gaye said it so well for me, " come on dance with me, come on dance with me baby!"
