Poetry: My angel

by Kate Miller

Created on: April 23, 2008

There is shame under this full moon
looks like midnight came a little too soon
There's a confession to be made tonight
In the dark there is no line between wrong and right
I wish you could forgive me
but I don't blame you for your pain
But if I could just once see
that smile of yours again
I would trade away this disaster I hold dear
This tangle of my nightmares, my fear
It's a burden I didn't want you to bear
But silence is heavier and secrets aren't fair
I had a secret that you called a lie
And that was when we said goodbye
But you've heard the lullaby inside your dreams
And I've heard my nightmares; I've heard your screams
Our roads may part, but we'll never be free
These are the chains you will never see
Your guardian angel has flown away
somewhere the demons won't stay
And the clock will order them all to be gone
with six tolls, it carries the light of dawn
And this is my savior, my angel of wood
If I could be that to you, do what I should
then the chains would be broken, cast away
but I prefer the night to the light of day.
