I'm not going to follow them
She whispered in the dark
I'm not going to go that way
Right here, she'll leave a mark
She turned and took the other path
Fear and hatred surrounded her being
She turned and went the other way
She just kept walking still believing
The path she took was different
Hardly anyone ever went that way
The path was rough and hard to maneuver
But something changed in her that day
I know who I am and I know where I am going
She shouted into the surrounding mist
She was on the path and people heard her
But they scuttled and all of the said PSST.
They whispered lies and condemned her actions
Because she didn't follow the same directions
She was different and proud of it
The path she chose was right for her
It gave her freedom and a new life.
The one she was meant to live
She never regretted taken the path
That was different.

The tree sits still, and fruit
Finding true direction is about managing your way,

And the selections that we make
From our childhood we select
The choices our parents direct
