Camping and how to get a good night's sleep

smell to be offensive to fellow campers, your choice of course.

A simple thing, such as sponging off before getting into your sleeping bag, can make your sleep more enjoyable. Going to bed sticky with sweat and greasy from that piece of bar-b-qued beef wont make you very comfortable. It can make you feel miserable during a hot sweaty long un-ending night.

It can't be stressed enough that no ground sheet, a missing stake for the tent, no cooking utinsel, or enough rope to tie down that pesky tent flap that snaps and pops all night in the breeze, will cause you to curse yourself for an idiot and keep you awake. Again, I remind you to talk to your camping savy friends, relatives, or co-workers.

Take a ball of stout twine. It is amazing what you can do with it, and how often you find you need it. Learn to make utinsels from sticks, such as chop sticks, and learn how to use them. A well honed knife is indespensible and can be used for every thing from filleting that trout, to carving that cute little pony. Like when your tent mate starts snoring. It will get you out of many sticky spots, such as cleaning under your fingernails just before that good looking person from the next camping sight comes by.

Laying awake all night berating yourself for a fool for not bringing that single item can cause hours of lost sleep. Learning to improvise can also lessen the trauma of forgotten essentials. I've eatten with a forked stick many a time because my wife borrowed my fork after forgetting hers.

Never go camping with the idea that you are coming back fully rested and relaxed. You will be stiff, sore, and tired. Hopefully you will be at peace having communed with nature and with no expectations you should have a wonderfull experience. No need to take an alarm clock as the local bird population are happy to arouse you somewhere after four in the morning.

Make your list and check it twice. It will ensure that you will have a wonderful experience while camping out.
