AS THE WORLD BURNS
4/22/08
People are beginning to starve all over the world.
As the Bush administration continues to allow their pals in the oil industry to raise oil prices to an outrageous $117 a barrel, the price of food around the world has skyrocketed. Basic dietary staples around the globe such as rice, beans and corn are now unaffordable to most
In Haiti, people are now eating mud. The President has been tossed and malnutrition is spiraling out of control.
In Egypt food riots have put the government on the brink of collapse.
Food riots have erupted almost everywhere around the world. A perfect storm of economic, environmental, and political calamities has just started picking up speed.
We are not just staring into the abyss, we are walking forwards it.
Genocide in Darfur. Massacres in Tibet and Burma, tribal conflict in Kenya. These conflicts are just the overture of the mass death and destruction that will follow if governments across the globe are not able or equipped to implement the proper polices needed to fend off this current crisis.
A major factor that is fueling the global food crisis is the Bush/Clinton alliance to wage war in Iran. Every time Bush pounds the drums of war, oil prices bounce higher, which in turn causes food prices to rise.
Bush has been saber rattling Iran since his "axis of evil" declaration after the 9/11 attacks,
but when Iraq spun of out control, the plans to attack Iran also kept getting postponed.
When the Democrats took control of the congress in 2007 and the National Intelligence Estimate concluded last fall that Iran had halted its nuclear weapons program years ago, it looked like war in Iran was finally DOA.
That was of course all before Hillary Clinton's 30 point lead in polls against all other Democratic candidates was threatened. For over two years, polls indicated that Hillary was well on her way to become the 44th President of the United States.
Then Barack Obama, a first term U.S. Senator, had decided to enter the race. He was written off by many, including the Clintons, who thought they could just waltz over all competitors. After all, they had the wanton support of all the corporate media at their disposal, as well as the money machine to out raise every one else.
Obama, had experience in areas that most candidates did not, namely grass roots organizing. He envisioned not just a campaign, but a real peoples movement that would topple the special interests
