Poetry: Responsibility

by Ms. Alisha Rose

I lived alone
With no support
A life growing inside
All told me to decline

I was young, in mind
Almost twenty
Coming from everywhere
Abortion or Adoption

I cried and tried
To tell all of my plans
No one could hear
So I yelled and screamed

You spread your legs
You deal with the consequences

I knew then, that I was me
And no one could change my mind
I live with that memory
Everyday, I take responsibility
