Global warming: What's the real truth?

to trade in carbon taxes, create new technologies, invest in R&D, and promote alternative energy whether it works or not. But they are engaged in free-rider mode, where in this case collective good intentions and/or actions attract free-riding industries that benefit from subsidies and plaudits, but do nothing constructive in return. Climate change has been privatised. It is a company business with oil companies cornering fossil fuels and hydrogen markets, Food companies championing their natural fertilisers and GM crops, and news outlets calling for change yet still advertising cheap flights and SUVs. It is business as usual, hypocritical and disguised, yet advocated by environmentalists, politicians and even the public alike who all either depend upon these companies for their livelihoods, who do not realise there has been a shift towards privatisation or who can do nothing to counter this. Climate change is the new economy, stupid!

But carbon taxes and trading will not work, nor benefit anyone, least of all the poorest nations in the long run. There are cheaper, better and smarter ways to help the world, which would ease the effects of climate change. Our current path to solve climate change will not help any of the problems we have now. With smoking, drugs and alcohol banned, taxed, controlled or outlawed, a replacement money-spinning industry has arrived in the newly formed, privatised and taxable climate change arena. But why would corporations work faithfully together over carbon trading when they do not over their own affairs or against other businesses or to help poorer nations?

It is because climate change has been sexed up' like WMDs, terrorism, pandemics and meteor strikes. Each went through hyper-alert stages, but climate change seems to have become a virtual dogma. As long as companies are seen to subscribe to the New Green Order then they can act with impunity. There are no sceptic companies. Sceptics are persona non grata, despite the fact that many so-called sceptics do believe in climate change, but not in the way in which it is presented. Any scientific cause so strongly believed in, with no hint of compromise or tolerant debates on alternate ways of remedying the problem, cannot be wholly based upon science. Kyoto might not be worth the stone it is carved in. So, why is there an insistence that the Kyoto ends justify the means? Because logic has given way to fear fear of losing our current comfortable way of life. But, I predict that soon, a plateau will be reached and green fatigue' will set in when it is realised that nothing realistic is being done or that anything drastic needs to be done.

Solving climate change is supposed to help the world, but lowering CO2 will not have that effect. We will still have warming, with more poorer people dying from disease, hunger and thirst. Climate change does not cause this, but exacerbates the problem. In alleviating these ills for a cost millions of time less than Kyoto, we would be helping these people now and they would be able to survive any ill effects of climate change. They will be richer, healthier, more educated, and able to handle climate change more effectively than now. So why are we denying them that chance?

Climate Change is not one problem. Climate Change has many solutions. Climate Change will help man change. Climate Change is out of our hands, but only if we do nothing. Privatised climate change is not the answer. If we really want to help, then we need to wrest climate change back into the public domain, where we can create, witness and savour the policies, results and benefits of our own handiwork.
