Our Secret Place
Walking hand and hand with the rolling blue-green sea beside us.
Our very secret wonderful place was just a few feet away.
The grotto supplied peace, serenity, security and secrecy.
We had our secret place to watch over others as they had watched over us.
The waterfall was our favorite hiding place.
We found not only joy from the spraying mists but complete anonymity from the rest of the world.
The joy we found from the beautiful pond was so different from the interest the world took.
We sat and dipped our feet, waded up to our knees, picking up shell and rocks to examine to our hearts content.
The World came by, maybe dipping their hands in the water and a shout of joy when the spray of the waterfall misted in their face.
But soon they hurried off to see more, as fast as they could.
We went back to wading and showering in nature's shower.
Oh such a life we had.
Fragrances floated from the sensuous array of flowers arranged around and in the pond. We delighted in the wonder of the delightful spectrum of colors with the rays of sunshine
The World on the other hand did enjoy the flowers in their own way. Gently picking a dancing off of their petals as they swayed in the gentle island breeze. bloom and holding the stem, they raised the blossom to their nose. Smelling the lovely fragrance and remarking about the rainbow of colors surrounding the grotto. They then pick the petals off of the bloom and let them float in the gentle breeze. Again they journey off to enjoy more of the island beauty. We are left to our private place. Once again the peace and serenity has returned.
The butterflies floated from delicate bloom to bloom. Their wings so very graceful like a ballet dancer smoothly gliding across a wooden floor. At the same time the honeybees also went from blossom to blossom quietly sucking the sweet nectar to make the wonderful honey that we all love so well.
The World never stayed long enough to see the wonderful things the butterflies and the honeybees did while flirting with the blossoms.
But we did. It was like life in slow motion. Oh such beauty lay before our eyes. We feasted to our hearts content.
The last beauty was the fish. Oh glorious, glorious sensuous tropical fish. Moving around the lagoon with such a lazy wavy pattern. It was such a picture to see. Colors of the rainbow floating in and out the moss covered rocks and stones. If you watched just long enough, it could almost put you in a hypnotic trance. But quickly now we must run to the grotto, for here comes the world. We must watch them.
Once again they see the fish, but only the fish. Not the soul of the fish. It is sad, that they cannot stop and sit and enjoy like we have done. Should we show them how? No, I don't think they want to know. Life to them is just a quick look. We are so glad that we know how.
Oh, quickly. We must go! Run from our island Grotto. Quick Quick. The sun is setting. We are afraid of the dark. Oh what shall we do? Stop! Think! There is no reason to flee. It is just our Grotto. The place for peace, security, serenity and secrecy. We are there!
