Understanding business etiquette in international trade

When you decide to do international trade means faces with many differences whether that will be about cultures, beliefs or ethics. On the other hand, you will open opportunities doors, build new network and of course, gain more profit. Roughly said, business etiquette is about relationship with others and it is needed to establish networks with partners, clients, or community. By having knowledge about etiquette in business will minimize misunderstandings and improve trusts for cooperate in business, based on this an agreement will be done. There are several issues should be considered in doing business:

1.Communication etiquette
A good businessman should learn and have knowledge with whom the business will be set up. Understanding other's background is a must while communicate. Normally, a business starts from a communication whether used emails, mails or phones and a businessman has to know whether it is allowed or prohibited. For example, always introduce yourself in first email before talking about business, and polite or formal words should be applied to get attention from potential partners, suppliers or clients.

2.Appearance
After having communication and the business goes to further steps, a businessman should prepare for first meeting. There is a need of preparation for whole aspects, which started from dressing, postures, until greetings, all have to result in good impressions. Physical properties need to be supported by inner attitudes and behavior. Such as shaking someone hands in several Asian countries mean as agree, so if you shake someone eyes in beginning, everyone realizes that you are agree for the business even though it does not discuss yet.

3.Having discussion and deciding for a deal
In this step, have to understand the characters of whom you are talking. Good attitudes should be introduced and positive points should be promoted. Be a quick right decision maker, think carefully and do diplomacy to achieve mutual cooperation. For example never give a doubt answer and have to understand the business that you talking are, this will give positive impressions.

The three points above are general etiquettes that commonly used in business. Giving a positive impression will open business keys, but have to realize that there is specific etiquette in particular countries. Just pay more attention before having business with others, gain more knowledge, explore it and the most important is to be honest!
