We all sink sometimes
whether we hit the bottom, or simply take in too much
we find a little solace in being contently low
too often we build ourselves out of clay and sand
slowly the grains find spaces to occupy
beneath our cherished steps they flee
we all sink sometimes
weather we despise, or take for granted
we find a little solace in being contently high
too often we build ourselves out of glass and steel
gradually the structure cracks to pieces
beneath our cherished steps it leaves
delusional and hostile, we sink ourselves
don't drag down those around you
it will only make the swim to the surface
seem like a blurry lifetime
