If you love a warm and dry climate, Phoenix is the place for you! The sun is shining most of the time, with an average of 300 sunny days per year.That is one reason that people visit Phoenix, and come back as often as they can. This city offers an ideal climate to most people. Along with very beautiful scenery, the climate is another reason that several people migrate to Phoenix, they simply love the climate that this area has to offer.
Even though the temperatures in the Phoenix area can be in excess of 100 degrees, Phoenix has very little humidity, and a dry type of heat that doesnt contain much moisture, making the hot weather more tolerable and comfortable. The highest temperature in Phoenix was recorded in 1990 as being 122 degrees. With humidty that could cause for an opressive day. However, in the summer the moisture and humidity does tend to rise. With humidity, late summer months seem more like the humidty of the Southeastern United States.
When seasons change in Phoenix, there is very little difference in temperature and weather due to the semitropical climate. However, frost and freezes have been recorded in Phoenix, and do vary according to the altitude of where you are in the city. The lowest temperature in Phoenix ever was 16 degrees back in 1913. Snow is also a rarity to Phoenix. The most recent snowfall was 0.4 inches in December of 1990. Snow really isnt a problem for Phoenix, but it can happen on rare occassion. Fog is also more popular in the winter months.
In Phoenix, the general on average rainful annually is 8.29 inches at the Sky Harbor International Airport. March is the wettest month of the year, with on average annual rainfall being just above an inch for the month. During the months of April through June, you really dont see much rain. Thunderstorms can occur in Phoenix every month, but are more likely in July to mid September due to a type of monsoon season that this area deals with. Humid air surges from the Gulf of California, and can cause severe storms, with hail, high winds, even tornadoes.
Generally, the weather in Phoenix is tolerable, with blue skies and sunshine most of the year. Spring and fall months are some of the best times to visit the city, due to an increased chance of rainfall and relatively low humidty. Winter time without snow is nice too. Phoenix all in all has a very enjoyable climate that makes it a wonderful place to be! Once you visit, you will always be dreaming of coming back again and again.
