Tips for spending one day in Philadelphia

Growing up in the Philadelphia area, I can honestly say that is the perfect city for a day trip. Of course there is enough to do there for a dozen day trips, but it is easy enough to select a few of the many activities the city has to offer and plan out a nice day. There are a few universally enjoyable activities that anyone would enjoy, that are absolutely perfect for your first Philadelphia day trip.

The first place that you should go on your Philadelphia day trip is the historic district. This area is home to the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, The Constitution Center and tons of other interesting historic sites. Stroll the same streets that our forefathers strolled and learn all about the birth place of our great nation.

Next, check out one of the cities amazing museums along the Ben Franklin Parkway. The Franklin Institute is a must see. It has some of the most amazing interactive exhibits. The giant heart that you can walk through, the old train parked in the basement and the aviation exhibit where you can climb and sit in the cock pit of an antique plane. There are several other museums in the same area of the city including the Academy of Natural Science, the Please Touch Museum for kids and one of nations largest museums the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

After you have spent your day soaking up some of the amazing culture in Philadelphia, you have to sample some of the cities culinary delights. Your best bet is a trip to the Italian Market, where some of the best food in the city is served. You could try a sit down meal at Ralph's one of the oldest family owned Italian restaurants in the country or you could stop in Pat's for a famous Philadelphia cheesesteak. The food in Philly is not to be missed and it should definitely be a part of your day trip, you may want to come back for the food alone.

Philadelphia has so much more to offer than one day trip can offer. There the Philadelphia Zoo, America's first zoo, Boat House Row, South St, the Avenue of the Arts and so much more. Take one day trip to Philadelphia and you will surely be planning your next.
