It's her hair that makes me look twice
Long and flowing
That deep auburn shade
I'm hit by a wave of... regret?
She's facing away from me as I come around the corner
Reading the label on the can of peaches in her hand
Even in the unflattering flourescent light she's striking
My mouth goes dry
Reluctantly I push my cart forward
I don't know why I'm scared
What came so easily in the past
Feels like a struggle now
I cast a side long glance
Of course it's not her
She smiles at me
I weakly mirror it back
I pass her by
Look at my list
A blend of relief and sorrow
Why are there tears in my eyes?
