I was raised by a single mom. She was really young and attractive when I was about four. We traveled by car a lot between cities in Turkey, where I was born. Turkey is a modern country, however, roads between cities are dominated by men, truck drivers and the like An attractive woman dressed in a tank top and a skirt to beat the scorching heat, driving by her self on those roads is courageous, although not necessarily dangerous.
One hot summer day, my mother was driving. After several hours, we had to make a stop at a gas station, where my mom went to the bathroom and took me with her. Afterwards, we filled up the car with gas and went inside to pay. As she was making a payment, she let go of my hand, and I walked right out of the store. What my mom heard next was the bitter screeching of a car whose driver had slammed hard on the breaks, to avoid hitting little four year old me.. She ran out and found that traffic had stopped, and a crowd had gathered around me. I was fine, just very scared. All eyes followed my mother, wondering who this careless mother was, and her cleavage is showing, and she's wearing a miniskirt?!
My mother ran to me out of breath and was relieved to see I was ok. But then she got angry and started yelling at me in front of everyone. She said
"Why do you do such horrible things? You were being a bad girl just now disappearing out of my sight!"
I got hot with anger, and water filled up my big brown eyes as I yelled back to defend myself:
"But you do horrible things too!"
Now everyone was all ears, then I said : " you do really bad things secretly when we're alone!" . A pretty long silence followed as everyone was waiting to hear what I would say next.
Finally, mom pulled me by the hand hurriedly eyes cast down to avoid the glares, and dragged me away under the burning eyes of the crowd. All their suspicions now were confirmed about the reckless young woman, wearing a summer top that shows her cleavage. Poor child they probably thought Who knows what she does to her when they're alone..
My mom's face was purple with embarrassment when we got in the car and then she asked me gently:
"Tell me honey, what bad things do I do when we're alone?"
Proud that I was calling her out,
"Your blood comes out when no one's there!" I screamed angry at her. I had caught her doing something immoral. I had witnessed my mother's period when she had gone to the bathroom. Of course she couldn't leave me by myself so I went with her. She had to change in front of me, which I guess I witnessed with somewhat of a shock.
My mother was relieved that she had really done nothing bad Or I hadn't witnessed anything really that bad and started laughing as she explained to me what a period was.
