Spring and Summer Salad
You will want to show off this beautiful fruit salad by serving it in a glass bowl or a white ceramic dish. This light and refreshing recipe can be served as an appetizer or a desert.
Ingredients:
4 small bananas
2 cups seedless grapes (red or green)
2 cups fresh strawberries
Instructions:
Select only high quality produce at the height of its growing season. While all of the fruits listed above may be available at your grocery store year round, the overlap between the best of the grapes and the strawberries is only late April through early July in the United States. The bananas you select should be just ripe with a little green around the stem. Chill all fruits before preparing.
Wash the grapes and strawberries gently in cool water. Remove the stems from the strawberries. Cut each grape in half and cut the strawberries in 3/4" pieces. Halving the grapes allows their sweet juice to coat the other fruits and also makes the grapes easier to pick up with a fork or toothpick when eating. Peel the bananas and slice them in rounds 1/2" thick. Mix all ingredients together and serve immediately.
This fruit salad avoids the common pitfalls familiar to many fruit lovers. Unripe pears, waxy apple peels, and stringy citrus wedges have no place in this delicious warm weather treat. Spring and Summer Salad is an ideal starter recipe for kids but is also elegant enough to be served at the next dinner gathering you host.
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Serves: 4
