Unforgettable 70s sci-fi TV shows

Unforgettable 70's Sci Fi TV Shows-

I have to admit that from the age of ten I developed a full blown addiction to sci-fi television shows and movies and I just couldn't get enough of them. They would take precedence over any other activity, chores to be done or any other TV show in the same time slot. Most were corny but for the lack of choice and because of the non popularity of sci-fi in those days there was not that much to satisfy me, but I watched them anyway. So did you.

The sets and effects ranged from ridiculous to sometimes spectacular and of coarse most pale in comparison to today's expectations and standards. We all thought they were cool but in fact they were not that good at all and we watched them anyway. We needed our fix. I have to say there were earlier years that produced some good sci-fi shows and Star Trek for the 1960's is one great example. For the 1970's there were about ten or so sci-fi shows in that decade which sated my addiction just enough to keep me watching. Shows like Wonder woman, Space 1999, Six Million Dollar Man, The Immortal and The Invisible Man.

For comedy, the corniest but best of them all had to be a 1978-1982 abc production called Mork and Mindy, created by Garry Marshall. The first episode aired on September 14 starring Robin Williams as the alien Mork from Ork and Pam Dawber, the earthling who played the role of Mindy McConnell, the sweet roommate.

"Na-Nu Na-Nu", was the common catch phrase from the earth confused alien and did it ever catch on. Everybody and anybody would joke about it and were greeting each other or signing off with it. It was crazy but fun.

Let's not forget the two comedians, Tom Poston and the well seasoned actor and comedian, Jonathan Winters. There were a total of 95 episodes and ran for about four years. Imagine all those years going "Na-Nu Na-Nu"

I did enjoy Buck Rogers in the 25th Century when the show was first aired which was created by the well known Glen A. Larson. The first episode aired September 20, 1979 starring Gil Gerard as Buck, and the sexy spandex queen of the future, Erin Gray, who played Col. Wilma Deering. Buck was just plain boring, dull and lame but Wilma made up for it all with her great looks alone because acting certainly was not her forte. I don't know, do you think models should take acting classes before they start acting? Let's not forget that annoying little robot Twiki and his counterpart Dr. Theopolis.

In the second season Hawk the Birdman,(Tom Christopher),
