What was it that made you feel safe at night?
A teddy bear?
A blankie?
Maybe even a doll?
What ever happened to those nighttime watchmen?
Those that kept the monster under the bed away
The Guardians of the night
Tucked softly under your arm
To chase your fears away
They fought the nightmares
Not to mention the ever-pesky closet demons
Silent and vigilant watchmen or bears if the case were so
But no more
Cast aside and forgotten
How can this be so?
Did the nightmares stop?
The monsters go away?
Did life become the nightmare?
Slowly as you got older
Things changed nighttime scares didn't faze you anymore
But what happened to your protector?
Put on a self to be forgotten?
Tossed away, given away?
Lost?
Or saved for future children that tremble in the dark?
