There are two things that I have tried in the last two years that have led to weight loss. With the low GI Diet I lost 20 pounds within a couple of months, simply by cutting down on carbohydrates and eating foods that burn slowly in the body. The Low GI Diet book lays it out clearly, with red, amber and green lists of what you should and shouldn't eat. This is more like a new eating lifestyle than a diet and it's not hard work.
The second thing I have done is a 10 day juice fast to detox the body. As a side effect I lost 10 pounds. This is tough going for the first three days, with just lemon water and water to drink. Days four and five, where you can drink fruit and vegetable juices, feel like getting a great surprise and once you get to day six and can start eating in moderation, it is absolutely wonderful. For me, the worst day was day two, but after that I got used to the regime and was OK.
