Could Christianity survive without the Bible?

Okay, so the key word here is Christianity. The question is not, "Could God Survive without the bible?" It is "Could Christianity survive without the bible?" Of course the bible does not depict the only way God exists, but it is a key doctrine of Christ's life and his teachings. Since the whole basis of Christianity is based on Christ's teachings we must remember that Jesus gave specific jobs to his disciples to have the word spread in the exact way it was supposed to. If it were not for Mathew, Mark, Luke, and John, we would have no record of the true disciples who walked, talked and witnessed the Son of Man.

The word was with God from the beginning, we know this from John 1:1-2. This does not mean that God was sitting on his thrown with his bible sitting on his side table. It means when God created this world he had a specific plan for everything. He knew what was needed to spread his word. This being specific people such as Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and in the new testament Jesus. Just as he had specific jobs for these men, he also had specific jobs for the men who were meant to record the lives of these people to form what we now call the bible.

We could say that all we need is the New Testament and we would be okay with the idea of Christianity staying in business, but it is not that simple. It was because of the predicting of Christ in the old testament that made the people of his time believe he was the true messiah. He was a mere carpenter and new the teaching of the bible better than anyone. He lived his life according to the written passages of the old testament. His last words on the cross were predicted in text of the old testament.

The armor of God is something a well educated Christian should know of. We all know that the sword of the spirit is meant to be our weapon against the evil one and his forces. The sword is classified as the WORD of God. Without the word we would have no Sword, and without the sword all we have is our defensive armor. The Word is our only way of Offense, without it we are not powerless, but we are definitely weakened.

The bible is an intricate book not made to read as a novel. It is made as a key, a reference, a "chicken soup for the Christian's soul" in perfect context. So truthfully if the bible did not exist there is no doubt that spirituality and the power of God would not, but it would be quite hard to understand a man who supposedly was predicted to come for more than four thousand years and accomplish things that were said to be done. We are people of proof and what better proof then the actual people who were Jesus' best buddies. It would be much harder if there was no evidence to back our specific Christian beliefs.
