China, a new but important global business player has just begun. (I say that because I am now updating this pre-2008 Olympic article. Its show to the world of what they could do when they put their mind to it, was staggering. Their greatest asset their people performed to precision. Their opening and closing of this event left viewers spellbound.)

China is new to the kind of business deals that the other large countries engage in, or that was so up until about twenty years ago when it decided if you can't beat them, join them. They swung their doors open and have been jet propelling their world-wide business interests. They bid on the 2008 Summer Olympics and they won. Now that the event is almost there, bussiness' are all readiy booming and nerves are on edge.

Most likely- and this from a writer who is only assuming what happens when the world is not only coming to visit and to play but will peek behind every closed door to see what's goes on behind the scenes - their doors of impropriety have been locked and only the boss holds the keys.

What is behind these doors? All business deals having to so with nations that supports the Dalai Lama. They will not want to take the risk of annoying countries that suspect them of not playing fair with Tibet and their monks. There will be strict rules of what to say and what not to say. After the visitors leave, they will deal with problems of how to save face with their new business interest. That could result in a little more humane treatment for the beloved leader who has friends worldwide.

Smog: They will have gathered it all up and locked it away. All outside air will have been piped in from the arctic somewhere. It was no small venture doing an air replacement in so short a space of time. But remember this is China and the impossible is possible. Their idea is to show the world their stuff and worry about how to make enough of it to put it on boats and ship it to them after the big party is over. Of course this will cause even more carbon dioxide, dirty air, and polluted streams and smoke from guzzling coal furnaces. But that problem is on the back burner -on an old-fashioned coal stove - until after all settles down and all nosey people go home.

What will be the after effect of this secretive open house? Hopefully, with all the money and the new cleaner buildings and polished image they will decide to proceed full throttle ahead. They will go green. Why should they allow an impending bad reputation to ruin their hard-earned
