Easy ways to handle your stress

by Sarah Pine

O.K. Here is the answer to your stress. You don't need 11 easy ways, but you can chop it up into that if you like.

Here is the number 1 hint. Come to terms with yourself. Get to know "you" really well. Until you do this, any other method will not work for long. Know what you like to do. Then do more of it. Anything. Watch movies, draw, hike, talk on the phone. Annoy people. Don't get complex. That will defeat you and bog you down.

The number 2 hint, is to figure out what "bugs" you. What saps your energy. Then work around it. Lots of things never get solved. Some answers are never found. Some people will never like you. And some days it will rain. Don't worry. Work arounds sometimes solve the whole problem.

The number 3 hint is "do not brood". You will never figure anything out this way. That is because you are talking to yourself, and basically you already know what you think. Talk to someone else if you must. There are several web sites on how to write complaint letters. Try one.
Don't expect an in depth conversation with a friend to help. They can get objective and ruin your complaints.

Number 4 is to avoid therapists at all costs. They make their living by spinning things out. Unless it is a serious psychiatric complaint, they will drone on forever, or if they are non talkers, they will get you to drone on forever, and then tell you that you must find your own answers.

Hint 5 is to never allow your children to go away to college. Don't listen to anything about encouraging independence and/or separation. They will not come back. Don't listen to any nonsense from others. It is the best way to wind up with them marrying and living thousands of miles away.

Hint 6 is to eat what you want, even if it means only small portions. Many people tell me they love celery (particularly organic), bean sprouts, and salad. They are lying. We are not bovines. We lose interest in proplonged chewing. Hide little bits of what you really like, and when you are down, have a small treat.

Which brings me to hint number 7. Never, never never order soup if you are depressed. The simple repitition of lifting the spoon to your mouth a thousand times, will make you lose interest in eating. Its boring. Have a nice piece of bread. The butter makes it easy to slide down and concentrate your energy on conversation.

Hint 8. Be a little disagreeable. This applies to shopping, phoning and dining out. It gets peoples attention. Do not be outright abusive. That is easy to figure out. But a little snideness
