Have mobile phones affected the art of communication? One cannot be entirely sure. Having been one of those people that held off purchasing one for as long as possible, the concept of art never jumped into the mind. With a mobile phone, one is connected to their phone. One is now reachable where ever they might be. Many people take their cell phones everywhere they go.
To look at the art of conversation, one might consider how this new form of communication has drawn a great deal of attention. One can talk more often. It is harder to hide. People seem to be addicted to this mobile junk machine.
Disconnecting some people from their mobile phone might be considered criminal. They might be willing to fight with another to avoid such a travesty. Conversations are more regular; many are long. What art has transpired amidst the conversations? Was it art or was it just doodling?
There is no question that mobile phones have painted some very interesting pictures. This might be considered art! "Man dies while running red light having conversation on mobile phone." This new form of art may be yet another DaVinci. The greatest piece is completed once the artist is dead!
While standing on the golf course awaiting the group in front, a mobile phone can be heard ringing up ahead. One watches the owner of the mobile reach for and answer the phone. They stand there and talk on their phone. The conversation goes on for a few minutes. Those awaiting behind become colourful. There is a form of art arising "Man dies on golf course when struck by a golf ball while talking on mobile phone."
The art of conversation requires devotion. When communicating on a mobile phone, one should ensure they offer the ability to be artistic without disrupting others. This would not include the combinations mentioned so far and the many not yet mentioned.
The mobile phone may very well be able to add to the art of conversation. If this device is used with consideration of others, it may very well improve many situations. One will likely never here anything like this on the news, "Marriage saved by mobile phone. Husband calls wife to inform her of accident on highway due to cell phone use."
Like so many new technological advances, they come with pros and cons. The mobile phone is not the culprit here. The culprit is the one that misuses it. Improved communication can improve the art of conversation and the mobile phone may very well do just that. People can be informed of emergencies more efficiently. People can respond to emergencies more effectively.
But when one refers to the art of conversation, to which art would they be referring?
