With my daughters at my side,
I meet those neighbor folks who,
in the aisles of the local stores,
or on the village streets encountered,
will exclaim with enthusiasm,
"My, they are carbon copies of you!"
But as I gaze at their lovely faces,
and see the smallest traces,
of my eyes or nose within their own,
I pick up the newest traits unknown,
that make them each one of a kind,
two originals of heart and mind.
It is then, with the neighbors,
I beg to differ, as I gaze down,
at those two little girls, my daughters.
Not carbon copies were they meant to be,
but brilliant originals all their own.

Looked me up
Brought us both to tears.
I last saw him
