The Halloween Murders
John Alucard had been inspecting murder scenes for ten years. The bodies had been taken away, but two people had been found dead on Halloween around 10 o'clock at night; one was a young, beautiful woman with mahogany brown hair and a black dress called Eleanor Starks, the other was a man wearing a black and red cape with what looked like plastic vampire teeth in his mouth called Andrew Regent.
"A couple came upon them last night," said detective Robin, "the woman ran into that gun shop over there and called the police. The couple and the shop keeper are all down at the station right now."
It was a cold morning, and John's coffee had lost all its heat. It tasted disgusting; he'd forgotten to ask for sugar.
"Let's get down there now," said John, "my coffee's gone cold and I think it's going to rain pretty soon."
John sat down opposite the store clerk. The room was dark and bland, but at least it was warm indoors.
"Your name is Jeremy Cameron, is it not?" asked John.
"That's right," replied the store clerk.
"Alright then, in your own time, please explain to me what happened."
"I heard the gun go off around 10," said the store clerk, "I didn't think much of it, I thought it was just a car backfiring, but it gave me a jump. There were two shots, and after they'd gone off I saw someone running away."
"Running away? Do you remember anything about him?"
"Not really, I wasn't paying attention. Jeans, and a jacket, that's about it. Five minutes later, there's a shrieking woman asking to use my phone."
"OK," replied John, "Mr Cameron, we have reason to believe that the bullets used may have come from your shop. Did you sell any bullets to anyone prior to the event?"
"One person," replied the store clerk, "I can't remember her name, but I sold him a case of twenty. Check my shop's cameras, you'll see him alright."
Robin was given the job of interviewing the couple. It was decided they should be interviewed one at a time.
"Your name is Nigel Forbes, is it not?" asked Robin.
"Yes," replied the man.
"Mr Forbes, will you please explain to me in your own words what happened."
"OK. We were on our way to a Halloween party, that's me and Shannon, my girlfriend, and Eleanor calls us up and tells us she's being followed by a ghost."
"A ghost?"
"Yeah, a ghost. She'd called Andrew who was coming to meet her and she wanted us to meet up with her as well. We went to meet her, and when we get there well you know."
"Did you see anyone else there?"
"No."
"The store
