Captain Scott and Chuckles- The Missing Labrador
The suspects:
Mrs. Van Allen
Crackers
Lil Stevie
Private Knuckles
Captain Scott was planning a very large party in honor of Veteran's Day. He loved having guests over and entertaining them with food, games, and music. He gets ready every year by planning the menu, creating a music list, and shining up his best uniforms to be on display. Five days to go.
This year there was a new member in the family. A Labrador named Chuckles. He was one year old and had a great personality. Chuckles and Captain Scott became friends quite quickly after being introduced at the city animal shelter. Captain Scott needed a companion to ease his loneliness. His boy was a grown man now, and his wife had been gone for two years. Together Chuckles and Scott made a great team and made each other very happy.
As the count down continued (two days left), Captain Scott had set certain people in charge to help with the preparations. Mrs. Van Allen lived two houses down and was a very resourceful lady. Each year Mrs. Van Allen would round up all the decorations, as that was her specialty. Last year's theme was a Luau. This year Captain Scott and Mrs. Van Allen planned on a Disco theme. Charlie was in charge of collecting all the paper products and disposable silverware he could find, and Annabelle would be providing this year's music. It was Captain Scott's job to purchase all the hot dogs and hamburgers one could eat.
The temperature outside had been cooling off as fall was winding down. But still great weather for a barbecue. Scott was deep in thought, making sure he remembered where all his supplies were. He was ready to go to the store, and little Chuckles needed to use the facilities outside. Chuckles likes to run and play in the yard. And Captain Scott never has to use his chain. Chuckles is as cute as any little one year old dog could be. Captain Scott loved how his tail wagged when he came home from anywhere, and loved how one ear always flopped over and got stuck.
One day left and counting, until the big party. Captain Scott had been receiving many phone calls from all the people he'd invited to the party. Several were going to make it. What a great way to celebrate the lives of veteran's; getting a group of friends and family together who have loved ones that served in the military. On the answering machine, Charlie left a message stating that he'd be dropping off the supplies around 2:00PM.
As luck would have it, Annabelle and Charlie arrived
