Within Mythology, though the stories generally are a Fable teaching a moral lesson or trying to invoke a thought. We find a story in support of soul mates and the inaugural event. It comes in many categories from Classical through Spiritual and Religious, Balanced Partners, Scientific, Twin Soul mates and Companion concepts. For the purpose of this exercise we will stay with the Classical explanation.
According to Greek Mythology humans were originally a one body organism which was compiled of four Arms, Four Legs and a single head but with two faces. Zeus being the king of the gods, the ruler of Mount Olympus, and god of the sky and thunder was accordingly attributed many differing stories (which basically when you look into them), concern correction of the forming of creation. One of many missions attributed to him is the forming of "Soul mates."
Zeus as a God feared the power the humans in the form described above, to which he split these beings in half; rendering each half to an eternity of searching for their soul mate or other half. Also according to this Myth, these humans were not only female and male, they were also female on female, and male on male. If this is the case then it would explain why some today profess same sex as soul mates and indeed explains why it is so hard to find your soul mate, as you know not whether it is same sex or opposing. Which, depending on your education into this sector of life from birth and prejudices and acceptances ingrained on morality and love, will determine in length your acceptance of what ever confronts you and how you accept or deal with it.
So in that context one could assume if Greek Mythology holds water or any creedence of value, then it in itself proves 'Soul Mates' really do exist and was a half serious story of Aristophanes in a Symposium of Plato's.
From a modern day perspective and I suppose one could liken it to a scientific calculation, though the scientific version states (quote) (If) a relationship can be quantified, and scored according to an internal happiness scale. A scientific soul mate is the person with whom you are the absolute happiest. You would therefore be less happy with any other person in existence. (unquote)
From the angle of perception by the author in support of this statement "Finding if Soul Mates Exist." Has observed over the years many people and many interactive phenomenon and facts.
