Mannequins

Mannequins, shenanigans
What's a girl to do
But search the world over
Til she finds a love that's true

Display all your affection
Then bow your head in shame
He doesn't seem to notice you
You didn't win the game

Dress up like a Barbie Doll
Dance like Britney Spears
Be a statue near the wall
Except those dripping tears

Hear him talk of outfits
Joyfully displayed
On all those stiffened bodies
That never must parade

They look so good behind the glass
They never must impart
A bit of witticism
Nor do they hide a wart

They're quietly surreal
Without any over sizing
Someone else controls their stances
And helps them make their rising

Then they get discarded
Like the junk they tend to be
Non people in a dump site
That needn't get set free

Barbie still will get her due
Her maker was a genius
Britney too will keep her fame
For more than just her dances

I myself will walk right past
That plastic perfect model
It's easier to laugh with ease
Even though I waddle
