I never thought I'd say this, but I love being single. When I was still married I would wonder how single people did it, now I wonder how married people do it. Relationships are great, when they're great. They are great especially when they enrich our lives but when we find ourselves out on the singles line again its time to use it to our advantage.

When you're single you get to be you. If you're in a funk, you really don't have to explain yourself to anyone. You just be who you are and get over it when you're ready and not when someone is demanding it of you.

Weekends are all yours when you're single. You can have a nice long lie in, in your sweat pants -if you please- and not be bothered if you look like granny so and so down the road. You don't have to think about, oh what to cook for breakfast! The real joy about being single is that you don't always have to mess with the razor everyday, you can go shave free at least for a day or two.

Being single is a time to be really indulgent with yourself. I took a week away to New York and had a good fling with no strings. It's time to loosen up a little, be a little naughty and adventurous. After all you don't need to fill in a report card.

Another real benefit I'm enjoying now is managing my own finances. You don't have to fill out any consent forms or make manipulative phone calls when you've got your eye on a sexy pair of red high heeled shoes. You just buy them because you can!

The benefits of being single are bottomless, I personally don't miss being in a relationship. Not that I'd push it away if it came my way. I've been in a committed relationship for so long that it still feels like I've been let out of prison for good behavior,I can't imagine loosing it to one bad act of rushing into another relationship.

Fall in love with yourself and you will expect more from others. When your next choice partner does come around, they will be someone of your standards because you've learned how to recognize what you want and what you don't want. Treating yourself right makes you expect the right treatment from others.

I guess being single is a time to invest in yourself and you know what they say about a good investment. You'll be worth so much more that when someone does come along, you'll be ready to take your next journey in life with confidence.
