Poetry: Easter

by April Phelps

Created on: April 19, 2008

Eggshell colors fill the newborn landscape,

Frilly little girls' laces,

Eagerly anticipating the Spring date,

Handsome little boys' praises,

Soft pastels dissolve into a crepe,

Sticky marshmallow faces,

Sugary sweetness a trait,

And chocolate bunny races,

Hippity hop to the white picket gate.

Overflowing Easter baskets,

Weave colors of the rainbow,

Delicate keepsake trinkets,

Animate a child's warm glow,

Early morning crickets,

Join the festive lawn show,

Spicy grill rib briskets,

Invite aromas to pleasantly bestow.

Hopping on the cobblestone trail,

Soft fluffiness with long ears,

Sunshine kisses an iridescent snail,

Renewing all the years,

Carrying a child's bright blue pail,

Full of cheers,

Delivering the Easter mail,

For all the little dears.

Birds are gleefully singing,

Warm heartedly embracing the noon,

New life is gently beginning,

The song whistling a happy tune,

The bells are spontaneously ringing,

Encouraging is the splendor of June,

Every newborn kinging,

The Easter bunny will come soon.
