I have vowed to never have children human children anyway. I rescued my babies on my thirteenth birthday from some children who had found the kittens and had taken them home. Much to their dismay and my delight, they couldn't keep them. I took the two kittens after begging my mom to let me have them as my only birthday present that year. They will be turning ten years old in July of this year, but my orange tabby, Tiger lily is a true mama's girl.
In the morning as I get ready for work she is there in the bathroom with me, sitting on the edge of the sink watching my every move. In fact my routine is so regular she is usually there before I arrive. If I happen to bend down over the sink, she likes to jump on my shoulder and sit there for a better view.
I have her trained on a leash and often take her on walks. When I leave the house she will sometimes run excitedly to the door, hoping to be able to go out with me. Other times though, she sits on the couch with a hurt expression on her furry little face as if to say how dare you leave me here alone!' of course I know the moment I leave she will find her favorite toy, run about the house or take a nice long nap and be perfectly at ease.
When I arrive home she is always at the door, waiting for a rub and meowing her hellos. Jumping on the table where I put my things down, she purrs and meows and give me no rest until I have given her an adequate amount of attention.
When I'm on the computer she sits next to the monitor, or on my lap. If to much times goes by without my giving her notice she stands in front of the monitor till I pet her. Her motto seems to be never be to far from mama.'
As I watch T.V. or read a book, she is there snuggled in my lap, or if I happen to be watching a particularly interesting documentary on birds, she will sit in my lap and twitch her whiskers and meow, looking at me from time to time as if to see that I'm enjoying it as much as she is.
At night, she snuggles up as close to me as possible, one paw usually stretched out so it's under my chin, her head on my arm. If I happen to require changing the position in which I sleep I need not worry about hurting her pride, I simply have to place her on the other arm and she makes herself comfortable in an instant.
She shares in my joy, comforts me when I'm sad, gives me pleasure in her play and is a companion when I'm lonely. She is my perfect little angel and I wouldn't trade her for the world! She's her mama's girl and the best there could ever be.
