Rising trends in body care

There is hope! With shows like "The Biggest Loser," organic, all-natural selections increasing at the grocery stores, and healthy option being offered at fast food chains, America just might finally get a hold on our obesity problem. The rising trends in body care will directly affect decreasing levels in people's body weight.

This past Tuesday a female, Ali Vincent, won "The Biggest Loser." Season five had several twist and turns, one of which brought Ali back after being voted off earlier in the show. Her determination put her percentage of body weight loss to 47.86%. The show teaches the contestants how and what to eat. The concept that people are to "eat to live" not "live to eat" is a driving force behind the success of the show. The trainers encourage balance and offer healthy alternatives. Education is power and the show changes their bodies along with their minds.

Several years ago, walking into a grocery store one would have a difficult time finding products that were all natural. The grocery stores had all the healthy options on the perimeter of the store. Walk to the left to find produce, walk to the right to find dairy, and follow the path straight to the back to find fresh meats and poultry. Even though the perimeter has stayed the same, stores are now offering rows and rows of healthy options. A parent could not choose a healthy cereal, it just did not exist (unless you went to a special health food store). Now, there are shelves of all natural, organic, tasteful choices.

America is still on the fast track with families running from work, school, and to extra-curricula activities for their children. Fast food chains once offered quick, easy, and in-expensive meals, however, America's children (and adults) started getting heavier and heavier. Currently, places like McDonald's offer healthy fruits, salads, and yogurts so that parents have the same conveniences as before, but with a clearer mind.

These three examples are only a few of the new rising trends in body care. Tapping into the type of exercising options is just icing on the cake. Eating right, and using food as fuel is an important step into a healthy body. By realizing that God gives us our bodies as a temple for the Holy Spirit, and that we have the responsibility of taking care of His dwelling place, we will pay better attention to what types of food we put into our mouths. Taking care of our bodies is easier now that shows like the "Biggest Loser" encourage a healthier lifestyle, grocery stores offer a wide-variety of all-natural, no preservatives, and organically grown choices, and fast-food establishments revamped their menus to encourage Americans to eat better. Thus, as healthy trends in body care rise, obesity will decrease.
