Ahead of His Time
A hesitant step, a trembling hand
A body frail, she can't command.
But heart so big, a soul so true
she waits so patiently for you.
The car pulls in and she appears...
She has been visiting for years.
The light of love is in her eyes...
But he just stares, can't recognize...
and tenderly as he sits there,
she talks of things he cannot share.
she says, goodbye, see you next week.
she pats his hand and then his cheek...
The next week hears her old clock chime
she does not come, he seems resigned...
They do not see, that she is there.
he takes her hand, and leaves that chair.
For they have mountains, still to climb.
by love set free, ahead of his time.
