We make mistakes because we were designed to do so. We were designed, created, and made to be flawed. To sin. The question is, what will we do with the mistakes that we have made in our lives?
Often times, we find ourselves making the same mistakes over and over again. It is a repetitive motion-and it does nothing to help us to grow as a human being. However, we find ourselves doing it, because it is an inborn trait. As human beings, we are bound to falter, because it is our very nature. I believe that we are designed to sin for a reason.
Each of us is born with free will. We are born, and we go through our lives making our own decisions and choices. During this time, we make mistakes. Many, many mistakes. If we so choose, we can take those mistakes and use them for the greater good. The ex-drug addict, the ex-alcoholic, the ex-adulterer/adulteress, all have something to offer their fellow man. They all have something to give back to the world. Instead of sweeping our mistakes under the rug, they are intended to be learned from, and used to help others. A person's words mean so much more to someone who is struggling if they can say that they have been there.
We do not all walk the same path in life. Each mistake, each situation, is uniquely our own. Each choice that we make directly affects our lives-and sometimes we make mistakes so monumental, so huge, that we know from the moment we make them that our lives will never be the same again. Some mistakes are life changing-some mistakes are mind altering-but they are all part of a delicate growing process that was designed specifically for that person, and that person alone. Life is exactly that. It is a growing process, a learning process by which mistakes are essential. Mistakes are the only way that we can learn and improve. I do not believe that it is meant for us to stress and dwell on our mistakes. I do not believe that it is meant for us to struggle internally with the fact that we are not "perfect." With mistakes must come acceptance, as well as forgiveness for ourselves and others. When we seek to find the reasons behind why we make mistakes, we will find understanding and resolution. We will find the acceptance that is necessary to move forward and continue to grow. Why do we do what we do? Because to err is human. Man has been making mistakes since the beginning of time, and he will continue to do so. Like the animal instinct to feed and protect our young, mistakes are a part of who we are. We must reach deep within ourselves and resolve not to look back-but to take what we have learned and pass it along.
